In December 2002, two of my roommates and I started designing and building a subwoofer for our home audio system. We bought a cheap 12 inch car subwoofer and began our project. Armed with a small handsaw, a bit of sandpaper and a friend's dremel, we began construction. The finished product stands 18 inches tall, 18 inches wide, and 10 inches deep. The two narrow sides are clear Plexiglas and within are three ultra-bright blue LED's. We designed our own crossover - the low pass filter that makes the speaker focus on the low pitch sounds. Even though the sub is a little underpowered in our current system, it sure does kick out a beat! For more pictures, check out the gallery.
