I believe in keeping a good historical record.

The Gates

3/25/05

The paper I submitted to MobiHoc has been accepted! It is titled 'The Feasibility of Launching and Detecting Jamming Attacks in Wireless Networks', and discusses security issues for wireless networks, specifically jamming attacks on sensor networks. Our's was one of 40 papers accepted from a "record high 281 paper submissions". This is my second publication, and I've got two more in cooker.

To the left you see one of Christo and Jean Claude's Gates that overan New York's Central Park for a few weeks. Although 21 million dollars seems like a lot to spend to drape shower curtains around a park, they did add some nice vibrant color.

On the ski lift

2/14/05

The Spring semester has begun. I don't have too many periods of class, but still plenty of work. Most of it is comprised of group projects. In Digital Systems Design I am designing and coding the baseband processor for an 802.11g wireless card in the Verilog hardware description language. In Software Engineering I'm working on a instant messenging client that includes file sharing and synchronization between users. I've still been able to take a few breaks. I've managed to go skiing twice since school starts which is nice.

In Florida

1/2/05

I've been spending my winter break in the Florida Keys. It's sunny, warm, and full of pirates. Also about as wild a place as it gets for New Year's Eve.

I've spent my days kayaking in the bay, enjoying our porch and its beautiful view, reading A Short History of Nearly Everything, and Key West's Duval Street.

Interested parties will find pictures from the trip here.

Others might be more interested in my research projects here. The end of the fall semester was a rough one with several finals and the deadline for one of the largest and best mobile computing conferences. I've submitted one paper and did a little to help another. All in all a good semester.
